The following interactive embedded map is from ArcGIS Explorer. This online program allows one to create personalized maps about various subjects around the world. Mine naturally is on BC lighthouses. I have marked with coloured circles the various lighthouses, RED for manned stations, BLACK for automated stations, and ORANGE for lights that used to be tended twice daily by people living in the area.
Clicking on the dots brings up a name card.
On the larger map, if you hover your mouse over one of the coloured dots, it will give the name of the station. If you click on the dot it will open a box giving information. (at the present time this information is not filled in yet. I hope to include a photo and text about each dot – just have to figure out how to do it!)
