The lighthouse is fictitious as the story is a fictional and moral adventure, but the reviews show that the author, Ms. M. L. Stedman has a masterpiece here. DreamWorks poised to shine ‘The Light Between Oceans’
DreamWorks Studios announced today that it has entered into exclusive talks to acquire the feature film rights to The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman. The novel, which was just released in the U.S. in July, is already an international bestseller. The story revolves around a lighthouse keeper and his wife who discover a baby on an abandoned boat. The couple decide to raise the child as their own, leading to complicated moral questions and consequences.
Heyday Films’ David Heyman (Harry Potter) will produce the adaptation along with Jeffrey Clifford. “M.L. Stedman has crafted a visually stunning and emotionally harrowing love story with a confounding moral dilemma at its center,” said DreamWorks CEO Stacey Snider in a release. “We were completely transfixed by the story and instantly imagined it as a sweeping, classic film. David Heyman is an ideal partner to bring Stedman’s story to the screen.”

Everything I hope for in a book! This is a stunningly written novel, with fully developed characters, suspense and conflict. It took me on an adventure to a remote place and time and I couldn’t put it down. I’m going to insist that my book club read it.

This book is excellent. I couldn’t put it down either. I’m alway on the lookout for a good book and found a gem in this one. I recommend it to anyone who is after a good read.

I had been hankering to read this book for some time and when I did, I could’nt put it down. It is a beautifuuly written, hauntingly poignant book and I sincerely hope that one day I can see this story on the big screen. An unforgettable read.
