Mystery Lighthouse!

Mystery Lighthouse!

Do you see the lighthouse? Is that not an impressive view!

The photo above was in a website for a Canadian west coast (Vancouver Island, British Columbia) resort. This is the actual view from one of the rooms. I could just imagine being there myself and seeing the waves beat up against the lighthouse island as I relaxed in comfort within the resort.

I even knew what lighthouse it was, or I thought I did!

It is really not a lighthouse, and could not be a lighthouse as there is no lighthouse within twenty (20) kilometers of this resort!

The photo above is from the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort near Ucluelet, BC (a local First Nations name pronounced as You-Clue-Let). As you can see on the map below, Lennard Island Lighthouse is the yellow marker off Tofino, and the resort is the green marker off Ucluelet! But do not let that discourage you – take a look at what is available at this resort. It looks fantastic!

Now that I have that straightened out – there is a resort and there is a lighthouse – there is also a beautiful Bed and Breakfast (B&B) (red marker) I discovered high on a hill overlooking the town of Tofino. It is called the Tofino Lighthouse Inn. Can they see Lennard Island Lighthouse? Well according to the owners of the B&B, “No we do not see Lennard, we see the inlet”.

So, who can see Lennard Island Lighthouse? Well you can!

Do not let my confusion discourage you. The lighthouse is plainly visible from the shoreline in many places, and there are many more resorts around the area to cater to all your needs. See the ads at the bottom of this TripAdvisor page. The Tofino/Ucluelet area of British Columbia is beautiful!
